About Me

My name is Jan and I specialize in architectural, hospitality and design photography. I moved to the United States, where I studied and worked until the age of 21. It was during my high school years that I first discovered my passion for photography, experimenting with my first and last film camera, capturing countless rolls of film, which I never developed.

Upon returning to Europe, I started to work in the hospitality industry, starting my career at the Kings Court Hotel and later worked for St. Augustin Hotel and the Alchemyst Hotel. It was within these hotels where I discovered my passion for architecture and design. It was also at one of these hotels that I crossed paths with my wife, Annkristin, with whom I've spend the last 13 years with.

I started photographing interiors while working for Vacasa, it wasn’t anything special, shoot a home, upload it online and have someone edit the images before uploading them to booking portals. However, it was Covid-19 that jump started my freelance career in hospitality and architecture photography. Due to Covid, Vacasa shut down operations in EMEA and I was forced to look for new clients. At first, I worked for real estate agents, two years later I transitioned working for architects and since August 2023 I mainly focus on hospitality.

Here are some intriguing facts about me:

- Germany holds a special place in my heart, as my wife is from Hannover, making it my second home for the past 13 years.

- I'm a proud father and my daughter brings me joy every day.

- I love hiking in the mountains and I have a habit of taking selfies with the cows of the mountain meadows.

-I believe that pineapple can go on a pizza and that cappuccino can be ordered for lunch (I am most likely not getting a job in Italy for this)

-My wife and I lived in a van down by the river for several months while traveling through Italy, France, Spain and Portugal with our camper van just before covid.
