Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik
Location: Dubrovnik, Croatia
Property Type: Heritage Luxury Hotel (Est. 1897)
The Brief: Capture the newly opened property’s diverse room categories, balancing Belle Époque heritage with refined, modern interiors.
The Project
Capturing the iconic Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik required a masterclass in architectural logistics. As the city’s historic first luxury hotel, the property boasts an incredibly distinct layout, meaning no two rooms, floors, or wings are identical. To add to the complexity, the shoot coincided with the hotel opening for the season, leaving a highly limited window to capture the spaces before the property was completely packed with guests.
Success on a production of this scale is rooted in preparation. Upon landing, we initiated an intensive four hour scouting session with the hotel’s marketing team to map every room category, structural layout, and geographic orientation. Because the Mediterranean sunlight wraps around the building, this allowed us to plan a precise, sun-mapped schedule, identifying down to the minute when and where we needed to shoot.
The primary creative challenge was bridging the gap between the deep, moody elegance of the historic interiors and the high-contrast brilliance of the Adriatic Sea outside. By executing our shoot list around these tight lighting windows, we captured a flawless, natural transition between the refined indoor spaces, the terracotta rooftops, and the sweeping coastal vistas. The resulting imagery showcases everything from the Imperial Suites to the guest rooms exactly as the guest experiences them, steeped in calm elegance, historic prestige, and pristine Mediterranean light.
